The idea came from our CEO Memo Sr. most of you probably have met him in person or talked to him on the phone. He is very involved in all aspects of the business and is always looking for ways to do better and helping others, from the employees to the community.
The original objective was to give a family friends’ son the opportunity to come work with us. He is currently a student in college who could benefit from real work experience. Being in a wheelchair has its challenges for him, but as a smart hard working individual, he was excited to give it a try. Before we realized it there were three more people who had family members who wanted to come in and work that day. Javier, Kayla, and Alvaro are all different with different special abilities and needs. What makes them exceptional is their willingness to grow and work.
Today is the first day of our pilot program, the main objective is to empower young adults with special abilities, and give them the tools to have real work experience in a welcoming environment.
To give Javier, Kayla, and Alvaro the opportunity to come work and learn about the manufacturing processes of Diesel Exhaust Fluid.
To empower young adults with special abilities, and give them the tools to have real work experience in a welcoming environment.
Setting up a safe working area to learn about DEF bottles and their packaging process . A set time frame of work will be defined to give the program structure and give both parties reliability.
We invite all of our current and new DEF customers to support this program with our packaged bottles of NOXGUARD DEF. If you see a bottle with a blue sticker indicating the bottle was in part put together by our team in the program, we encourage you to share it with everyone.
Here at Transliquid, we are extremely proud of Javier, Kayla, and Alvaro for coming in today and for showing us their determination!

Last Friday our Transliquid offices turned into a film set for a day. We have a new video coming soon this summer 2017! The whole cast of Transliquid Technologies will be featured in this short film.
We really enjoyed ourselves while filming this video. It was a great moment as we realized how far the company has come in the last 7 years. The growth has been incredible, with many new employees and a growing transportation department. We are very proud of Transliquid and sharing this video with our customers, vendors , familiy and friends is one way to show it. The video will encompass all areas of Transliquid and the DEF business. Here are some behind the scenes pictures of the shoot.
This segment of the blog series 2017 DEF Forecast, will focus on DEF equipment and other emission-reducing solutions. Along with the growth of DEF comes the need for DEF equipment. Dispensing and storage equipment for DEF are very important for this market, especially since it has such strict purity requirements. Manufacturers and distributors had to invest in a whole new line of equipment in order to sell the product. Equipment for DEF is still evolving and new and improved products are coming out every year.
DEF Equipment Solutions
In the beginning
The largest equipment manufacturers in Europe had plenty 0f experience with Diesel Exhaust Fluid and quickly started selling in the US. One of the first and key companies was Piusi, they have been offering DEF pumps for over 10 years and have sold thousands of units. Their product line for DEF equipment includes pumps for totes and drums, in both manual, AC and DC formats. Along with the pumps, they also offer nozzles, meter, and accessories for DEF.
Similar to Piusi, it’s German neighbor Tecalmit also distributed their German pumps to the U.S. Although with different technologies, they offered a similar line of products for DEF. In addition to DEF pumps they also offer storage and product handling solutions, such as the bulk dispensing systems for DEF.
GPI and BB pumps are two brands who were initially in the DEF equipment market, originally from the United States and Netherlands. These manufacturers are no longer in the DEF market and focus on other types of pumps.
The Future of DEF Equipment Solutions
DEF equipment has changed and evolved drastically, with new products and better technology. The original products are still available but now there is a wider selection of products. The main change in DEF equipment is the need to service the growing industries which are using the product. An example of this change was back in 2009 when the demand for access to DEF in a retail settings grew. Although bottles of DEF were easily distributed by truck stops countrywide, a need for bulk retail stations became imminent. Thus, creating a market for bulk retail systems specifically for DEF.
As the off-road market grows, new needs arise for the proper storage and transfer of DEF in off-road locations. A great piece of equipment which is fairly new is the DEF P.O.D.S (Portable Off-road Dispensing System). Equipped with an integrated tank and stainless steel D/C pump for keeping DEF at hand in remote areas.
Manual pumps or even D/C powered pumps can be inconvenient for the bulk transfer of product. The DEFMoto autonomous DEF transfer system is the latest for locations with no access to a power source. With a gasoline-powered engine that can pump up a true 50 GPM.
The Marine sector, as mentioned before is growing slowing in regards to DEF. Off shore use of DEF for different machinery, will need DEF equipment solutions. The conditions for transfer, storage and dispensing will be ever changing and evolving. The same goes for Industrial settings, Rail, and Agricultural markets. Here at Transliquid, we are constantly updating our equipment product lines to offer our customers the very best solutions to their needs. We custom build for those customers with a unique mix of conditions.
Emission Reducing Solutions- Whats new?
Emission reducing solutions have come a long way since goverment proposals have gone through to reduce emissions from heavy duty vehicles. Although we are very familiar with SCR systems, there is a newer company which created a different system to deliver ammonia to the SCR system. Their ASDS™ system works with a solid ammonia material (AdAmmine™), in conjunction with the SCR system. This system claims to work great in city driving heavy duty vehicles, such as city buses. The technology does not depend on ambient temperature to be fully functioning in emission reduction. So this solution would work great for heavy duty vehicles that operate in cities where temperatures drop below freezing.

In this second part of the 2017 Diesel Exhaust Fluid Forecast, we will discuss the DEF Industry Evolution. If you are reading this you are probably already familiar with DEF and what it is. For those who are new and landed on this post please refer to our previous post, 2017 Diesel Exhaust Fluid Forecast (part 1) to our first blog back in 2010 We know DEF or to the FAQ page. DEF or AdBlue was first used for emission reduction in Europe. In the United States, the EPA set their standards in Tiers.
Because air pollution comes from many different sources both mobile and non-mobile sources. The EPA has separated them into categories to better set the standards. The two main classifications are mobile sources, such as cars and trucks and non-mobile sources such as power plants. Within the “mobile” sources of air pollution, there is further segmentation by vehicle type and weight or engine size. For each of the different categories, the EPA set tiered standards. Each tier would have a specific emission standard and would phase in over several years. Tier II would replace or add to Tier I with more stringent standards, and so on.
DEF is expected to be used by a growing number of applications other than on road vehicles. In the industrial and agricultural sectors, there will be tremendous growth.
On road vehicle usage of DEF will continue to grow. Standards will become more stringent to meet goals of NOx reduction, in the years to come. As regulations have evolved into the off-road sector, we will begin to see more users of DEF. The agriculture industry, for example, has had to adapt to meet the emissions requirements. Suppliers of farming equipment will need to find the best DEF systems for their specific market. This may include storage, dispensing and management systems for DEF. There will be challenges for the new players getting their feet wet with DEF and finding the best solutions to these challenges will be key.
The off-Highway applications of Diesel Exhaust Fluid are countless and include construction, mining, manufacturing, marine, and rail. Marine and Rail are two sectors who have not taken off completely and will be slow to move forward. They have their own set of categories and tiers set by the EPA, to help determine emission standards. We are currently in the last tier implementation for these two sectors, and the newest engines are already being manufactured.
Different industries will grow their Diesel Exhaust Fluid use but it is important to note, the concentrations levels of urea will also be increasing depending on the engine and use. Currently, 32.5% concentration is in high demand, but it is expected for 40% concentration to take a higher part of the pie. The DEF Industry will continue to evolve and before long every diesel engine in the country will meet the highest standards of emissions.
Timing is everything when it comes to agriculture. Some factors may be controlled but others such as the weather, we can only plan around. When a new product is introduced to the industry, there will be some who decide to use it and those who prefer to keep working in a traditional style. For those using any machinery that runs on diesel, diesel exhaust fluid is a necessity. Regulations on high-horsepower engines require the use of diesel exhaust fluid to reduce emission. When time is so valuable, it is imperative to buy the best DEF System for agricultural use.
The following DEF systems for agriculture use are all great. The idea is to be able to fill up the DEF tank of the different tractors and machines, which are in remote locations. It is important to notate that for an agricultural setting a tractor may use anywhere from 5 to 50 gallons of DEF per day.
All of the DEF systems for agricultural use presented bellow have been designed for rugged use in a location that does not necessarily have electricity access. When choosing the best option, remember to calculate your current and foreseen diesel exhaust fluid usage. This will determine the size of the unit which is required.
The main difference between the pump of these systems is the type of pump; vane / diaphragm. Although different both types of pumps work well and are both designed to minimize noise generation.
GPM & Housing
The gallons per minute dispensed for these pumps will be too close to compare, and will likely be the same. Although I was not able to find any GPM specifications on Titan’s spec sheet, I can estimate it is a close number to the 7-9 GPMs. Housing for all three DEF system units is the same with an all poly construction.
The different types of configurations for nozzles are as follows: manual vs automatic, plastic vs stainless steel and with or without a meter. The top configuration you can get is an automatic stainless steel nozzle with a meter. With the basic manual nozzle, you will save some money but there can also be unwanted spills do to having to guess when the tank is full. A nozzle with automatic shut-off will save you the trouble of guessing and will stop once the tank is full. Plastic will also be less expensive but not as sturdy and durable as an all stainless steel nozzle. Noxguard’s P.O.D.S comes with a standard manual plastic nozzle, but it can be upgraded to a full stainless steel automatic nozzle with a meter for a small premium. From the information found online, I found that both Piusi and Titan use a nozzle which is plastic with a stainless steel tip only. Piusi’s portable basic model comes with no meter but can be upgraded to a nozzle with a meter. Titan’s unit does come with a meter and an automatic nozzle.
Dispense hose length can be an important feature for the different applications of a DEF system for agricultural use. It is important to take a look at the units that will need DEF to determine the length of the hose needed. Piusi’s comes with a 19.6 ft hose and Titan’s with a 20 ft hose , in the standard unit. The Noxguard P.O.D.S standard unit comes with a 13 ft hose, which can be upgraded to a longer hose if desired.
Similar to hose length, tank capacity needed depends on how much equipment you have and the DEF used per unit. Before deciding on which unit to purchase, calculate how many gallons of DEF your equipment uses per day/week or month. Also keep in mind how many times you would like to refill the tank. The Noxguard P.O.D.S and the Piusi Portable Tank have two sizes available, 55 and 53 gallons and 110 and 106 gallons respectively. Titan has 4 sizes available, which provides flexibility and more options for the user.
If you purchase the Piusi Portable Tank or the Noxguard P.O.D.S a 2-year warranty will cover the equipment from manufacturers defects. Titan offers a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase. The limited warranty will not cover negligence, improper installation and or use.
All DEF systems come with a lockable lid, in order to secure the pump and its parts.
If you follow us on social media or on our TransliquidTV page, you would have seen one of our posts about the new operations of Noxguard Diesel Exhaust Fluid Mexico. It follows the original strategy to have Noxguard in the neighboring country and to continue further south. This project has been in the works for more than a year. It wasn’t until this year that all the pieces aligned and it moved forward.
The new plant is located adjacent to the PeroxyChem facility in Ecatepec de Morelos. The new facility provides customers a very convenient location in central Mexico sourcing Diesel Exhaust Fluid in bulk quantities. Just like the U.S operations, the plant in Mexico will follow all the same procedures and batch tracking formats. Customers can track their batches, and benefit from all parts of the Quality Assurance Program including our own private fleet of dedicated Noxguard trailers.
Noxguard Mexico has already started moving product in the capital to key transportation clients. We have the capability of covering the entire country, and will be moving aggressively towards all the major cities. As a result of our customers continuing to require DEF. The market continues to ask for Noxguard Diesel Exhaust Fluid. Our customers in Mexico value the quality in addition to the dependability that comes with the Noxguard brand. In conclusion, Noxguard is bringing a complete package of manufacturing expertise and technology which was lacking in Mexico.

When it comes to Diesel Exhaust Fluid not all companies are created equal. Usually you get what you pay for no matter what product or service you are dealing with. Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is very strict quality wise, saving a few cents up front, could cost you thousands in repairs. Some manufacturers sell DEF in used packaging that has been washed, or even go to the extent of purchasing low grade raw materials. For this reason we created our NOXGUARD Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality Assurance Program, to provide you with the peace of mind you deserve.
What is the NOXGUARD Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality Assurance Program?
The Quality Assurance Program was established with the idea that each user of NOXGUARD DEF, can have access to our in house testing, this is our commitment to you.
The QAP consists of the following parts:
1. API CERTIFICATION
According to the API, Its Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Certification Program “is a voluntary program designed to certify and monitor the quality characteristics of diesel exhaust fluid intended of use in motor vehicles with diesel engines.” Noxguard DEF has demonstrated that it satisfies the requirements of the most recent and applicable edition of ISO 22241, by participating in this voluntary program.
Earlier this month we finished our DEF batch track page, an integral part of the Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality Assurance Program (QAP). It had been a goal for us to be able to give every NOXGUARD user the ability to search for the blending date and specs of their product. Every bottle, drum , tote and bulk load that leaves the warehouse can be traced via our tracking page. We are the only DEF blender who has given complete access to in house testing results, we go above and beyond by third-party testing every single batch of DEF that leaves the warehouse.
Go ahead give it a try, we want to know what you think.
For those who want to go beyond the batch track, we can provide a Certificate of Analysis. Each certificate is specific to the customer requesting with details such as the PO and the gallons of DEF sent out. For some companies the COA is important, it is simply a more formal document than the report created in the DEF batch tracking page.
4. Dedicated tankers & seals
Last it is important to point out, part of the Quality Assurance Program is having dedicated tankers for bulk delivery with NOXGUARD numbered seals. When a bulk load of DEF is ordered, we load it in one of our dedicated tanks and use a numbered seal that gets confirmed by the customer upon delivery. The reason is to prevent any tampering of the product, the customer can be sure that the quality of the product has not been compromised during the shipping time. Dedicated tankers are an added measure to certify that the product maintains its standard of quality. There will always be a greater chance of product cross-contamination when a tank truck is filled with another liquid and then washed to deliver DEF. With NOXGUARD this is not a chance we are willing to take.
We have worked hard to provide you the most information and transparency when it comes to the quality of our product. The QAP is just another tool we created for our customers, when buying NOXGUARD, you will know exactly when and how it was produced!
In our case not only will you get the best quality product but also a one of a kind customer service.
