High flow meters Houston Texas with printer? DEF refilling program

Good morning and happy friday !

I wanted to post a question that keeps coming up frequently.

As you know, we have been working very hard on our Diesel Exhaust Fluid program here in Houston Texas as a major distributor and packager for DEF.  Our Texas Diesel Exhaust Distributors keep asking about bulk DEF and more importantly, the following quesion keeps coming up:

What turn key package do we have available now for Diesel Exhaust Fluid in Houston Texas to refill IBC totes on location?

I’d like to point out something important.  For the last two weeks we have discussed DEF dispenser pump systems, closed loop systems, and more.  Remember, that if you are going to be refilling totes on location; you need the RSV micro-matic system. Read previous blog post here.

Ok, back on point.  The answer to the question regarding DEF refill turn key packages; the one thing that most people have not factored is the custody transfer high flow meter for Diesel Exhaust Fluid.  This is probably one of the most important pieces of the DEF distributor refill program.  (weights and measures)

Yes we stock high flow meters, capable of printing receipts. This is available for general purposes and also available for Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

Above high flow meters can be retrofitted with printers and also, we can set them up with a high flow pump that will shut off at the designed gallon or liter capacity automatically.

LastTCS is introducing an economical 304 stainless steel construction for their 682 piston and 700 rotary flow meters to maintain the high purity required for DEF.  As one of the ONLY flow meters available today to meet the custody transfer requirements of DEF measurement, this is a great value for our DEF network.

Transliquid Technologies focuses heavily on our combined 20+ year experience on the equipment side.  But now, the rules are about to change once more with a few surprises coming down the pipe for our customers, distributors, and friends.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid @ 30,000 ft.- Quick view at DEF dispensers

Good morning folks, perhaps good evening or afternoon.  As I write this, I find myself at 30,000 ft flying to a few business meetings.  I will admit to you that I am your typical flyer; lumbar pillow support, earphones, and of course good tunes are always available at arm’s reach. Yes, I am geared up and blogging high above; the perfect setting in my opinion.

plane-photoThe view isn’t so bad. Don’t you agree?

I was asked recently if we were anything conventional; I squirmed at the comment.  I believe that we are very unconventional and we love to keep it that way.  Our approach to business is simple: Deliver on what you promise and do it in a big way.  Be a leader not a follower, and share as much as you can for the benefit of others.

We have been asked a numer of times about dispensing pumps for Diesel Exhaust Fluid, and we have done our share number of clinics for customers educating them on the proper techniques to handle and dispense Diesel Exhaust Fluid, all with great results.

Here in Houston, our Diesel Exhaust Fluid program is about to take a big leap forward.  The main reason why it has been growing is because of the trust that we have gained.  In addition, we have been fortunate enough to have met key individuals who are true masters of their craft.  We all often talk about our customers and the projects that we push out into the market place, but seldom do we need take the time to say thank you to our vendors and suppliers.

Next is a short list of folks that either we have done business with or have met and talked to them about DEF dispensing equipment choices.  All worthy of their own unique produts available today to dispense Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

Our boys at PIUSI have been very successful in Europe; now in the US with a good line of dispensers for drums and IBC Totes.  The Suzzara Blue Diesel Exhaust Fluid dispenser pump package has been well accepted and currently helping our customers here in Houston Texas.  This is one of the most economical and robust packages available in the market today; with a meter, auto nozzle, hose, pump, and more… it is a great value. So if you need more information on availability and pricing; shoot us an email.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid – Understanding IBC’s closed loop system II

Ok so we are going to wrap up the diesel exhaust fluid closed loop systems with this entry by highlighting this question:  What do I need to refill a DEF tote on location?

Our recommendation will always be to stick with Micromatic’s closed loop systems for DEF.

So, now you understand the basics for a one way tote (from our previous entry) with a closed loop system, let’s talk about how to refill that same tote over and over again; which would be a great savings over time, don’t you agree?

Now, a DEF closed loop systems is important for the following reasons:

If Not Handled Properly…

  • Detrimentally Affects SCR Performance
  • Will Void Vehicle Warranties
  • Causes Premature Catalyst Deactivation
  • Fouling of Pre-filters & Injector Nozzles

def-closed1 The next illustration shows the RSV (Reusable Stainless Valve) System. This is a great system for onsite refilling, so let’s see how it works.

1. SS Fill Head Coupler- Closed, Sealed & Secure– Spring actuated and self-closing upon disconnect keeps product contained within the dispense hose, eliminating any chance of spills. Dry Disconnect – Less than 2 milliliters.  Reusable, Durable Stainless Steel Construction. Part#744-026

This is the part that you need on your refilling system, the tank or totes that you are carrying around to refill your customers.  You will need to remove the existing coupler on the customer’s tote and take this fill head coupler and secure it on the IBC. Your hose will run from your delivery truck to the IBC to start refilling.  And remember, your delivery hose (re-fill) will have the fill head coupler; part#744-026

2. SS dispense coupler-Closed, Sealed & Secure
Spring actuated and self-closing upon disconnect keeps
product contained within the dispense hose, eliminating any chance of spills. Part#744-048

Once you know you will be servicing a customer on site, this is the coupler that you will need to have on the IBC tote.

3 & 4. We can skid these two for now.

5. Container valve– Closed, Sealed & Secure
Self-closing upon disconnect, prevents unauthorized
access to the product in the container. Part#743-097

6. Skip for now

7.Downtube– Part#743-236/1245 (for a 330 gal tote)

That is what you need to do onsite refilling; and if you have any other questions; come by our warehouse we will be happy to demonstrate with one of our totes.

We have these Micromatic parts in stock here in Houston.  Call us for more details at 281-377-5845 or email us for equipment information.
